attention, freaks, it's me

i'm alive! wow!

I didn't mean to abandon this blog. Just been busy, I guess? Um. I got a girlfriend and the first thing I made her do was watch the entirety of Marble Hornets with me lmfao. She loved it. I'm over the moon. I never thought I'd be able to share my Slenderverse interest with someone like that.

We went to Anime Boston together and had a blast. I took her to the hololive karaoke party and we waved our plushies around in the air. That was the first hololive event I attended in person and I'm really glad I got to experience it with her. I met some cool otaku, too. The guy next to me was like, "I'm surprised you still have a voice" at the end of the show since I screamed so much lmao. It was so much fuckin fun... we also cosplayed Stan and Kyle from South Park. We went to Wendy's in our costumes and some guy asked me for my number. You ever been hit on by a guy while you're cosplaying cartoon kid characters with your girlfriend? It's funny. I wonder if he'll think of us whenever he sees South Park now, I'm assuming he isn't huge on the show since he erroneously called me Kyle... and this employee at the local Walgreens was totally fangirling over our cosplays lmao.

I'm rambling. I just had fun!!! I've been doing great mentally, too! wow! I wanna write here again so bad, I have so many thoughts on internet horror shenanigans that I wanna jot down... we will see...

comments

not necessarily the best or “scariest!!1!” creepypastas, just a bunch of different stories i like. i included short summaries and (ROUGHLY ESTIMATED) reading times for each listed item. the fucked up ones have content warnings

more stories + embed links coming soon, i just wanna post this real quick (last updated: 8/24/25)

( THE ESSENTIALS )

( GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS )

( WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST READ )

comments

>giant text that says 2006 on top of a screenshot from a movie that released in 2007

horror youtubers can't be assed to do even the tiniest amount of research for their content lmaoo. i mean, they have no reason to since most of their audience couldn't care less and just need good background noise.. i swear, for shit like this, people focus the hardest on the video itself when there's a 2-minute long sponsorship they have to skip. lure in your audience with mysterious 3spooky5me clickbait n then cram that skillshare ad down their throats

also, why the fuck are horror channels talking about videos that... even bigger horror channels covered over ten years ago? like, i've gotten about 5 sad satan videos in my recommended this week. i thought we were over sad satan. i thought we all agreed sad satan was super lame and gay

comments

goat worship? depression?

This entry’s pretty personal, but I have no problem wearing my heart on my sleeve.

A few months ago, I went through the most grueling and persistent depressive episode I’ve ever experienced. It was crazy. Resulted in a (voluntary) trip to the loony bin. Admittedly, that wasn’t my first time going to a place like that, but it still sucked lmao. Nonetheless, I came out alive. And stronger, I think. I went to work the day after I got discharged.

So, I managed to claw out of that hole. But something that helped me put my foot down and go “yeah, I need to get some serious help” was Goat Worship by Randy Prozac. Randy's an artist that's been playing an edgy character since, like, the 80s. He prefers to stay anonymous because, as he once put it, he doesn’t care about “ego shit.” Despite that, he’s a notorious egosurfer. He finds it funny to keep an air of mystery around his name, so he often Googles himself and takes down fan-posted archives of his works. He deletes and edits his own uploads a lot, too. We’d talk about him on /x/. His stuff’s a bunch of absurdist humor that’s not meant to be taken seriously (which I like, by the way), but there’s genuine emotion in some of his art. I think Goat Worship is a perfect example of that, mainly because of this write-up by Randy:

( long )

I feel like I’m regurgitating a lot of what Randy already said in that post, but it’s important to recognize an unhealthy mindset without validating it. Personally, I find relatability crucial when it comes to mental health. I fucking love it when shit resonates with me. I don’t think my methods of looking at edgy art and going, “Ah, yeah, I get this, sux how I’m subjected to these horrible feelings, woe is me :/” were the optimal coping mechanism, but it was a step up from wallowing in misery by accepting life with a sick mindset. And, I mean, “edgy art” helped me reflect and get help, so.

Quite frankly, jerking off by thriving in a constant state of negativity and calling it empowerment is the biggest pussy move someone can make. But it's an easy trap to fall into. I did when I was younger. Because that mindset provides a fucked-up sense of strength and security, and God knows that's what depressed people crave the most. A lot of that is seen in Goat Worship, ridiculous and edgy of a series it may be. cut the bad peepee out mommy

I dunno. I just felt like writing this up. I probably could've articulated myself better, but no1curr about my blog and I wanna take a nap lol.

comments

intro

I’m Kylie. ‘04 Spring baby. Horror has been my special interest since my age was in the low single digits. My backstory for that is that my ma likes horror and had me grow up on the scary movies she saw when she was young, things like Killer Klowns and those low-budget Stephen King adaptations. Not necessarily a parenting technique I endorse, but I’m glad it happened to me. Having a lifelong passion is nice.

All "scary things" are encapsulated in my love of horror. That being said, I’m particularly fond of surreal horror, splatter, creepypastas, practical effects, the uncanny valley, and body horror. Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, Shaye Saint John, Popee the Performer and Made in Abyss are my favorite things on the planet and mean a lot to me. I filled out the Interests tab on my profile if you wanna know what else I'm into.

Horror aside, I’m otaku scum and I listen to metal. Utsu-P is my favorite musician. I like cartoons. I go to hardcore gigs sometimes and like getting fucked up in the pit. I collect vintage clown dolls because I love clowns and unique antiques. I drink a lot of iced coffee. I’m a recovering hikikomori. But above all that, I’m a horror junkie.

comments

the skin daddy

I was looking through some of my old /x/-adjacent bookmarks and found this cute little creepypasta series about a monster called the Skin Daddy. The Creepypasta Wiki pages I had bookmarked were deleted, but the stories were easy to find elsewhere online.

The Skin Daddy series itself is nothing remarkable. It’s just one of many 2spooky4me creepypastas by some guy trying to make a cool monster. There's some interesting retcon in the final story that suggests experimentation with the Skin Daddy character, and he's apparently in a fucking game too. I enjoy noticing little quirks about a series’s creation in the works themselves, and I can respect the fun of developing your character in that way. Creepypastas are meant to be fun digital campfire stories, after all.

Here's a link to the Skin Daddy series. It's not a long read at all, should only take 20 minutes max. The individual entries on DeviantART come with images if you'd like to check those out, too:

( DeviantART links )

comments

autism moment

I hate social media and I hate the “niche for niche” thing.

If you revel in the obscurity of your interests above anything else, it’s immediately clear where your priorities are. You don’t find comfort in the unorthodox, you’re just trying too hard to differentiate yourself from everyone else. You’re not truly embracing individualism and uniqueness if you’re following any kind of trend because you want to be different. Even if that trend is "having niche interests" or whatever. Wanting to be different and being different are not the same thing. If you are genuinely different, then that's fine, but it still doesn't make you better than anyone else. You don't have to be into "niche" shit to be an individual.

Hating something solely because it’s popular is the dumbest fucking thing ever. I feel disconnected from the mainstream, but that doesn’t mean I’m completely averse to the art it has to offer. That would make me close-minded. As an outsider, why do you care about the group consensus of something? Be an individual and form opinions based on your own thoughts: how something makes you feel. There's nothing wrong with liking something super popular, whether you conform to societal norms or not.

I just can't stand when people treat being an outsider like something cool and mysterious, like something superior. I hate how prevalent that warped, idealized concept of “not fitting in” is nowadays. Genuinely way more annoying than being brushed off as a freak, because at least that kind of thing's easy to laugh off.

On a similar note, I hate when people call me goth lmao. It's happened so much, and it immediately shows when someone has the most surface-level, social media-influenced perception of alternative subcultures lol. I’m not goth, and I hate how any woman who dresses in all black is immediately slapped with that label and gets treated weirdly for it (see: fetishization). It’s wrong on so many levels, and it’s only becoming more and more normalized. I guess goth has always been one of those misunderstood subcultures, though. Just hate how things are currently steering.

comments

This entry spoils the entirety of Lake Mungo, and going into this movie completely blind is a phenomenal experience for fans of horror mockumentaries. I appreciate anyone who bothers reading this journal, but if you haven’t watched Lake Mungo, please do that and avoid this entry like the plague til you're done!

( spoilers )

comments

scp-2316

Been on a little SCP kick lately, revisiting some of my favorite articles... SCP-096 is my all-time favorite (I wrote about it here recently), but SCP-2316 is such a close second. While there is some lore behind the students, SCP-2316 is perfect as a standalone oneshot, and it's the most unsettling article on the Wiki (if you play along). If it's your first time checking 2316's article out, make sure to highlight the entire page and click on everything.

I love when a scip's cognitohazard is present in and influences its article. SCP-3999 does that wonderfully (it's one of the best, even), but it's long and cacophonous in its presentation. In contrast, 2316 is eerie and slow for such a short article. I love when that kind of creepy, short but sweet pacing is effectively executed in horror fiction. You do not recognize the bodies in the water. SCP-2316 also utilizes the Wiki's HTML in a really cool way that directly relates to the cognitohazard. 2316's just creative all-around, and it deserves all of the appreciation it receives.

Like I said previously, I enjoy 2316 as a solid oneshot. I'm not wholly averse to backstories in the Foundation, but this article has a very specific gimmick going for it that isn't carried out anywhere else. The Kirk Lonwood High School series is cool, but 2316 doesn't need a bunch of lore behind it because it's perfect on its own. So go read it!

comments

craig's big day

Craig’s Big Day means so much to me. It’s been referenced throughout DHMIS (it was the main 3’s show in episode 2 of the web series, it was referenced in the TV pilot, and the song was referenced in episode 5 of the TV show..) so I think it’s important to Becky and Joe, too.

Becky and Joe accept the various meanings people draw from their art, and I think they purposefully leave a lot of room for viewer interpretation. I love that about their stuff; that’s a major part of why I find their art so personal. Most of the subject matter of their art is relatable on its own, but I was given room to make it resonate with me by relating it to my specific experiences.

With that being said, I like to view Craig’s Big Day as an autistic man’s depressive episode running its course. There’s no explanation why Craig (seemingly) snapped out of it. Maybe it was all a fever dream, maybe he actually fucking died. But I like to think that he changed his mind once he was actually given the chance to die with the poison. Like, no matter how suicidal you are, you only realize how dire the verge of death is when you’re close to it. But any depressive episode will eventually run its course; it’s like a flow, and it comes in waves. But when it’s over, you feel big and strong and get cool spikes in your hair.

The poison Craig was going to drink was a gift.. I think that’s an obvious metaphor for suicidal ideation. The poison also manifested itself as the sole gift Craig received on his birthday, which I think represents the view of suicide as the only source of escape (Wacky Pig Worm stopped working after a while :(!!!). Because more than anything, Craig is tired. When you’ve been in an MDE, isolated with nothing but your thoughts, it’s only natural to grow tired of it all. But I like to think Craig pulled himself out of it!!

There is a lot to take away from this little series, but I don’t have it in me to write about all of its intricacies right now. I just want to get this out there since I think the few people willing to read a journal like this can appreciate something like Craig’s Big Day. The clock, the birthday meal, the ending.. please watch it yourself and form your own interpretation:

comments

dazai… (2)

I want to die. I want to die more than ever before. There’s no chance now of a recovery. No matter what sort of thing I do, no matter what I do, it’s sure to be a failure, just a final coating applied to my shame. That dream of going on bicycles to see a waterfall framed in summer leaves—it was not for the likes of me. All that can happen now is that one foul, humiliating sin will be piled on another, and my sufferings will become only the more acute. I want to die. I must die. Living itself is the source of sin.
—Osamu Dazai, No Longer Human

Dazai has a lot of quotes that resonate with me, but this one.... aughghh

this is exactly how it feels to lose all hope. you see the wonderful things that exist in the world, but you know that beauty isn't meant for you. you're a dull outsider looking in on a kaleidoscope of color..

I wish I didn't have MDD, but I wouldn't connect with my favorite art so deeply if I wasn’t so miserable lol. This is bittersweet, but I'm glad to have something to hold onto during a time where even the things I normally love feel unfulfilling. Happy escapism is fine, but finding comfort in raw, genuine portrayals of depression provides such a profound sense of solace and understanding that I can’t possibly obtain anywhere else. That relatability is something I value more than anything else during my depressive episodes. It’s nice to feel seen for once. People tend to patronize and sugarcoat clinical depression; they walk on eggshells when discussing heavier aspects of the disorder (like suicidal ideation, self harm..)

means a lot to see depression portrayed in a raw, genuine light

comments

giygas

Earthbound is fantastic all around, but Giygas alone is enough for me to call it my favorite game.

Giygas is a tragic character. I like to think his feelings are similar to the Cartridges from Made in Abyss: a confusing, cacophonous mix of horror, pain, and ecstasy. I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose yourself like that. but while I love him for being pure evil that’s in constant agony, he’s a lot more than that.

tbh more than any evil Giygas embodies in the game’s universe, I love him for exemplifying the fragility of traumatic childhood memories, how they fog up over time but never fully go away... doesn’t matter that Itoi was mistaken about the movie scene; the horror he felt when he saw it as a kid was true. and the point of Giygas isn't to simply portray the alleged rape scene, it's to represent and communicate how Itoi felt when he was traumatized by it as a child.

And the Giygas fight is a crazy tonal shift from the previously established quirkiness Earthbound used to deal with even its most serious subjects (Happy Happy Village...) because Giygas is personal, he was born due to true, real-life horror experienced firsthand by his creator. That's what he embodies more than anything.

Giygas was the reason I played Earthbound in the first place (he was discussed a lot in the nerdy horror circles I lurked around online). and like, despite being spoiled, he still caught me off-guard. I’ll never forget how blown away I was by that entire fight.

Giygas is cool. His design is cool. His story is cool. But the intricacies of his creation are the biggest selling point for me. Those stories of Itoi reading each character and "dot dot dot" out loud for Giygas's dialogue, driving the person typing to tears… like, this is heavy shit lol

comments

scp-096

I'm not nearly as into SCPs as I used to be, but there'rea select few scips that I think will always stick with me. SCP-096 is one of those. everything about it exemplifies "simple is best."

Anyone familiar with internet horror knows how overdone plain grey humanoid monsters are, but I think a basic design like that works well for SCP-096. Its jaw and grossly out of proportion arms are just enough to differentiate it from all the other grey humanoids out there. When you dumb it down, SCP-096 is a monster that kills you if you see its face; it’s a relatively simple concept that’s still unique enough to let the imagination to run wild. So I think the simple monster design is fine. Also, the fact that 096 eats 096-1 is heavily implied with a [DATA EXPUNGED]... what a cool writing choice!!! I think 096 is a very unique and special guy, even if it is plain-looking.

IMO, the best SCPs work as standalone articles and don’t need much else behind them. SCP-096 has a few official external documents tied to it, but it's fine on its own. Document #096-1 is fucking stupid lmao.. I find the vehement /x/ writing style endearing, but the fact that it's okay to look at drawings of SCP-096 isn't interesting enough to warrant anything more than a brief mention in the actual article. The events detailed in Incident 096-1-A, however, actually add to the horror of SCP-096. This quote pretty much sums it up:

( spoiler? )

So, Incident 096-1-A uses what was previously established about SCP-096 to help the reader realize something absolutely horrifying. That's how you add onto an SCP article with external documents. Like, this is fucking awesome!!!!!

Here's a funny video of some guy finding SCP-096 in Containment Breach. I watched it all the time when I was a kid. He also found it again.

comments

clown appreciation

A few days ago, a clown (the one that was labeled as ‘Baby’ in my previous post) came in the mail. My friend and I picked him up from the mailroom together. The girl working there was curious to see this clown after she heard us talking about him (I was so fuckin excited lmao), so I unboxed him right there to show her. She thought he was creepy, but respected my passion. She said I was ‘powerful’ for liking weird clowns lol. I appreciate her a lot, but I’m not powerful for my interests. Everyone has things they hold dear.

I’ve just always liked clowns and had a proclivity for finding beauty in the unorthodox, which is exactly what I do with these dolls. Each one has so much personality, and I’ve noticed idiosyncrasies in the clothing or faces of different clowns that undoubtedly indicate similar origins. While it would be nice to know, I’m not particularly interested in tracing where exactly these clowns came from. I simply hope they were crafted and passed down with love (which I believe is largely the case, as all of the sellers I’ve gotten clowns from are great). Whether their creators or previous owners from ages ago are still alive or not, I hope they know that these dolls eventually fell into the hands of someone who truly appreciates and cherishes them.

I just purchased this adorable little Santa clown on Etsy, and the description written by the seller really resonated with me:

This messiest Santa has been through it all. He is worn. He is tired. Take note of his almost non existent, frayed pom pom on his Santa hat. And yet he smiles nonetheless. His baby blue blouse is full of soot, his feet are adorable and worn out. This lil' guy measures 4.3 inches tall. He's itty bitty and his overalls are torn.

I will not be refurbishing Messiest Santa. He has touched my heart and therefore stays as is, ready to celebrate Christmas once again.
These clowns are admirable, and there is room to relate to them. They’ve deteriorated over time. They’ve been through so much and are very tired, but despite that, they carry on. This Santa clown specifically keeps his smile and shares his joy with others, despite the ragged state he’s in. This clown hasn’t even been shipped out to me yet, but I have very similar feelings to the ones expressed by the seller. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who feels this way; Messiest Santa’s smile really does bring happiness to those who see it…!

I’m happy I got into this clown doll hobby. I haven’t had something this warm in a while.

comments

baby clown

I have a very calm work study job at my college's library, and I always bring a clown doll to show off during my shifts. A girl took a sticky note and labeled this guy.

comments

net horror rambling

I hate how people are suddenly interested in older internet horror yet still disregard the artistic merit involved in some of it. I get that most of this content consists of boring, heavily edited images, but there is genuinely fantastic art interspersed within this amalgamation of 'weird and scary shit we saw online as kids.' I wish people would recognize and respect that more.

My interest in creepypastas and the 'weird side of the Internet' introduced me to some of my all-time favorite art. Like, I remember how captivated I was by the image associated with Tomino’s Hell. It’s such an unnerving, powerful picture, so I looked for its source and learned that it's one of many paintings by Yuko Tatsushima. Her art depicts such a grotesque, evocative sense of female vulnerability, and I’ve only grown to appreciate it more with age. I implore anyone interested in more raw, macabre art to seriously look at Tatsushima’s work. She’s phenomenal and should be known as more than just ‘the artist who had her painting slapped onto a completely unrelated poem’.

The thing about the Internet is that people will find any 3spooky5me picture and turn it into something else without much thought: creepypastas, chain mail, shitposts, etc… and unorthodox art is especially susceptible to this; the Internet's made it possible for even the most exceedingly average people to stumble upon unconventional artwork. It’s always been this way, and it always sucks when art blows up with a crowd that has no hope or interest in understanding it. sucks even more when misinformation fuels the general consensus of it.. but it can reach artistically inclined people. Like I said, being a kid looking at stupid spooky shit online and researching the images posted in those circles introduced me to a lot of the art I still care about deeply today. This is one of the many pros and cons of the internet as a whole; everything's just up for grabs, and anyone can find anything, whether they give a fuck to do actual research or not.

That’s it, really, people don’t do their fucking research. Most don’t care to (and I don’t expect them to), but I can’t help wanting my favorite artworks to get the appreciation they deserve when they’re brought up. I’ll keep doing my best to spread the word of my favorite art!!! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

comments

sandown clown thoughts

The Sandown Clown is one of my favorite urban legends. He isn’t a typical cryptid; he’s friendly and docile, frightened of humans but still kind toward the children who encounter him. There’s also a whimsical air around him, like, he lives in a quaint little hut and eats cute little berries. And if he’s the same creature described in Mr. Y’s account, he even prances about and plays hide-and-seek among the treetops. Cute! The details of this encounter are so oddly specific yet still leave readers with a plethora of questions, so it’s no wonder that Sam resonates with so many urban legend and folklore enthusiasts.

The case of this entity's name is also pretty interesting. Though introducing himself as “all colors, Sam,” he later tells the children that he has no name. Is Sam not his name, but something or someone else’s? Maybe one of the children? Maybe he just contradicts himself a lot? For the sake of this entry, he's Sam. But it's worth acknowledging that he also isn't Sam. He's very strange.

While Sam does have apparent clown-like qualities, the word "clown" is never used to describe him in the initial BUFORA article. I’m not particularly interested in what exactly Sam is, but I can’t help thinking that his fanciful, phantasmagorical nature is reminiscent of a fairy’s. This would make some sort of sense to his reply, “...Well, not really, but I am in an odd sort of way,” to the ghost question (alongside the illogical essence of his very being). Also, that’d make the girl’s alias, Fay, pretty fucking tongue-in-cheek lol. It almost seems too perfect.

But whether he’s a fairy, ghost, alien, or just some clown thing, Sam is Sam(?) and he’s lovely for that. There's a lot to speculate about this encounter, but beings of this sort don't live by our perceptions of common sense and rationality..

I bought this adorable 3D-printed figure of him on Etsy, and I'm eagerly awaiting his arrival. I'm a bit obsessed.

comments

a short puppet film from the 50s that teaches kids about teeth

it has a creepy, low-budget charm to it that's enhanced by its obvious age

the dreamlike feel and bizarre characters are surreal in a very specific old-school way

comments
