Been on a little SCP kick lately, revisiting some of my favorite articles... SCP-096 is my all-time favorite (I wrote about it here recently), but SCP-2316 is such a close second. While there is some lore behind the students, SCP-2316 is perfect as a standalone oneshot, and it's the most unsettling article on the Wiki (if you play along). If it's your first time checking 2316's article out, make sure to highlight the entire page and click on everything.
I love when a scip's cognitohazard is present in and influences its article. SCP-3999 does that wonderfully (it's one of the best, even), but it's long and cacophonous in its presentation. In contrast, 2316 is eerie and slow for such a short article. I love when that kind of creepy, short but sweet pacing is effectively executed in horror fiction. You do not recognize the bodies in the water. SCP-2316 also utilizes the Wiki's HTML in a really cool way that directly relates to the cognitohazard. 2316's just creative all-around, and it deserves all of the appreciation it receives.
Like I said previously, I enjoy 2316 as a solid oneshot. I'm not wholly averse to backstories in the Foundation, but this article has a very specific gimmick going for it that isn't carried out anywhere else. The Kirk Lonwood High School series is cool, but 2316 doesn't need a bunch of lore behind it because it's perfect on its own. So go read it!
