throbbing gristle
Jan. 16th, 2025 03:01 pmOther than Vocaloid and metal, I used to listen to a lot of ambient artists like Swans, Current 93, and The Caretaker. Even though I think “/x/ music” is a bit of a demeaning label, it’s what I associate with that sort of dark ambient music since its prominence on /x/ was what introduced me to it lol.
I don’t listen to /x/ music nearly as much as I used to, but Throbbing Gristle has stuck to me like some sort of disgusting fungus. Which is a good thing. For me, TG is the perfect BGM for reading horror stories.

Growing up, Six Six Sixties was my favorite TG track, but I’ve grown to appreciate Hamburger Lady in recent years. The instrumental is unsettling enough, but the grotesque lyrics further complement the descending tone and keening instrument that repeat throughout the track. It’s masterful, really. But Six Six Sixties is still a close second favorite, because good lord is that riff awesome with such an eerie guitar tone.
